Well, we are 10.5 hours into our road trip to mid-Ohio and have just under three more hours to go. Woop! Akron looks like a lovely town.

We’re headed to Marion so I can play in the Amateur World Disc Golf Championships this week where I plan to dominate the Old Guy division. Yep, since I hint 40 this year I decided to play AM Masters and be the youngster of the bunch. With 500 golfers, it should be a good time.

We are staying with Marcy’s friend Danica south of Columbus and brought Sky with us too. He is Danica’s boyfriend and should have fun playing with her dogs and hopefully her cats too.

If you’d like to keep track of my adventures, I’ll be blogging daily on my Devens disc golf blog. Wish me luck and keep sending out the good disc-chucking vibes!

The youngest of the Borelli Bunch turns five today. Funny that he has the same birthday as my Dad. Hmm, I wonder how that happened?  😉

It’s a beautiful day today. Blue sky, warm, and breezy. Time to do some yard work and bake a birthday cake. Oh, who am I kidding. I’ll just give Smokey an extra treat!

Happy 5th Birthday, Smokey!

Marcy had a little trouble matching this morning!

We are up in VT today for a disc golf tournament. Stayed the night with a friend at Sugarbush and are about to head out.

Please rain stay away!

This weekend is the start of my 2010 disc golf season as I head to the North Shore for two tournaments: the E. MA Championships at Pye Brook Park on Saturday followed by the Amesbury Pines Open on Sunday.

For other golfers, it started two Saturdays ago at our tournament, the King of the Hill at Devens. Since my course is known as the Hill, we like to play on the King of the Hill theme with different kings each year. Last year we used King Kong and this year we chose the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

We once again ran an awesome event and gave away a ton of prizes. Marcy did a great job in her first official role as TD and people seemed to have a good time, but how could they not? We gave them free breakfast, a killer players pack consisting of a custom disc, t-shirt, and a bunch of Michael Jackson-related stuff like a can of Pepsi, matches, Pop-Tarts, Pop Rocks, and King size candy bars, and then ended the day with free pizza.

People love our tournaments because we put some serious thought into making it run smoothly and trying to make the golfers feel special, even if they don’t realize it! I’ve been to enough tournaments where you just sign up, play, and go home. Ho hum, nothing special. Just another event. Not at our events, buddy boy!

I’m excited too get out there this weekend and see if my off-season putting practice has paid off. We shall see!

Happy birthday, Human Mom!

Marcy can’t keep a secret. She got me a big ole grill for my birthday. 🙂

We’ll be grilling tomorrow!

We finally made it home about 12:30 AM Wed. Yahoo! Thanks for picking us up at the airport Tracy!

It was fun seeing the doggies again and watching them slowly realize who we were and that, wait a minute, we haven’t seen these humans for a while! They all looked so different for some reason; it was weird.

Smokey was first up the stairs and gave me a quick sniff hello, but please, there were more important things like luggage to start sniffing. Sky was next and gave me a smooch. Aspen took longer then the rest but finally got that tail wagging at full power.

Marcy spent her first day back legally changing her name and getting a new license. I hung out with the dogs and then went to play disc golf and volleyball. Not a bad way to transition back to reality.

In between, we both whined about how cold it was. Hey, going from a hot and humid 85 to a cold and rainy 42 is rough. Wahhh! But at least we have nice suntans.

It seems the gods don’t want our honeymoon to end. Due to the rainy and windy weather along the East coast, our flight home from San Juan has been delayed not once but four times — five hours total so far!

Luckily we were notified of the first delay before we left the hotel, so we decided to have one more authentic Puerto Rican lunch at a small cafe across the street, Mi Casita.

I tried something called mofongo with chicken which turned out to be a mound of mashed green plantains with garlic (I think) and chunks of chicken in some sort of sauce. Good and filling.

Marcy got some sweet plantains, a Cubano sandwich, and a strawberry piña colada. The sandwich was huge and had big chunks of pork in it. Enough for dinner, which looks like we will be enjoying by gate 38. Yep, just got notified of another delay. 6:30 pm now.

Well anyway, we are at the airport now. Found an outlet to charge our phones so we’re all set for an afternoon and evening of nerding, checking email, and whining on Facebook. 🙂

After a week of cruising around the Southern Caribbean, we’ve got one full day left in Puerto Rico to get our tan on.

After checking in to our fancy waterside hotel this morning, we hit the beach for a couple of hours. It was great and maybe the highlight of the trip.

For some dumb reason, we put barely any sunscreen on and then had a good laugh when we came in and saw just how red we had gotten. My knees, thighs, and tops of my feet are a lovely deep Italian red while Marcy has splotches of red on her neck and legs. Stupid tourists!

After a quick trip to the local supermacarto for a 5-gallon jug of aloe, the sunburn chills have kicked in as we relax and watch some hoop and do a little nerding.

If we can move tomorrow, it’s another day by the pool – this time under an umbrella!
